Bio: As a child I was not permitted to own a pet. Consequently
my latent interest in animals blossomed when I reached adulthood.
Over time this interest included owning horses, goats, chickens,
dogs and cats.
My enthusiasm endured eventually focusing on purebred dogs.
From 1962 on I owned, bred and exhibited English Setters
and English Cockers under the AHOY prefix. English Springers
and Borzoi were later additions. My focus expanded to include
judging and I consider myself fortunate to have excellent
mentors supporting me, both in Canada and the U.K.
Activities stemming from this passion with purebreds are
the publishing of an annual directory of breeders on Vancouver
Island, chairing a judges' study group, acting as show chairman
for an all-breed show, assisting in provincial and national
events sponsored by the Canadian Kennel Club, and editing
the quarterly newsletter of the English Cocker Spaniel Club
of Canada. I enjoy participating in anything designed to
educate the public on purebreds from breed seminars to interviews
on our local radio station "call-in" programmes.
I am a member of the Canadian Dog Judges Association.
