Anne M. Hier earned a JD in International Law from Thomas M. Cooley Law School
and also holds an MFA in painting from Michigan State University. Her numerous
magazine articles and illustrations have been regularly published since 1977.
Additionally, she has previously won three Maxwell Awards from the Dog Writers'
Association of America and is the author of Dog Shows Then and Now: An Annotated
Anthology.
Hier previously worked for the American Kennel Club where she served as Director
of Judging, Research and Development. Among her other contributions she was responsible
for the majority of the organization's highly successful computer imaging programs.
Primarily associated with Bulldogs and French Bulldogs, Hier has been actively
involved in the sport of dogs since 1975 as a breeder, exhibitor, and international
judge. Her dogs have completed a total of 22 Championships and 15 obedience titles,
including two Bulldogs which earned the Utility Degree.
Hier is a life member of the Detroit Bulldog Club and also a member of the Companion
Dog Training Club of Flint, MI. She is an artist and writer and is currently working
on another book, Doggynomics: Why Everyone Wants to be Fido's Best Friend.
